Waters Rising

Free verse

Waters rising higher and higher, smashing destroying our houses, we have nowhere to live. Ponds Lakes Rivers even Seas are flooding, coming closer and closer to our houses its something we think about that is right infront of our eyes. Creatures have nowhere to live. No food, No shelter nothing nothing at all. We are all going to be homeless. It will be cold damp and wet. Going up up and up the water is mean and dark why dosn’t it stop

Student Led Conference Feedback or Questions

Feedback

Amelia presented her work brilliantly and she appears to be learning a great deal and is obviously being made even more interesting by being able to produce work by Powerpoint and the use of computers. I love the bloggs and so does Matthew. From Vicki (mum)

Well done Meals You blow me away. I think you need to work on your goal thing, You know the one about TV and the homework. Keep up the good work and don't worry so much. And stop biting your nails.

Alone in the Forest

Alone in the Forest
By Amelia

March 2007

Have you ever been alone in the forest hearing noises coming across, lifeless birds and lifeless bugs?

Yippee! The day of the orienteering came. Nine o’clock Tuesday 6th of March Hamner Springs Forest Camp. Group A was really excited, we all couldn’t wait. Eventually we got there and Kelly and John got to drive and of course we had to walk. Kelly and John told us the rules, we had to follow the sun if we were lost, we were only allowed on the tracks and Kelly told us how to read the maps. John told us what the clues looked like. We all got into groups of four and my group was Ju, Naomi, You Bin and I. We had a really good group then we took off ready for sprinting.

The first clue we found was easy it was just straight ahead. The next clue we found the other group was looking for it too. I saw the second one but we had to try make sure the others didn’t see it so we acted. Our group had to try and make out that we didn’t know where it was, it was hard because we all wanted to crack up laughing, but we didn’t. We had to look in different spots so that other group wouldn’t know where the clue was we were really bad at acting but they didn’t find the clue so that was good. We ran out and wrote the number down. It was really hard.

Later we had got a lot of points we saw some old people and they thought we were at Hamner camp school but we told them that we were on camp at Hamner forest camp doing orienteering. They were really nice. Then we saw some steps that we had to go down they were really steap!!! Annabell went off because she had a bike and she could not go down the steap steps but we did. We didn’t find the clue that quick it was quite hard. But we found it beside a small cliff.

After that we tried to find our way to our next clue we got lost. Somehow we started talking about what if a wild pig popped out of know where and jumped on us!!! Suddenly when we were walking we saw this log going over the stream we were thinking about crossing it but we thought it might be to slippery so we decided not to. We found three bridges that was where the next clue was supposed to be, but we were looking for quite a while so we felt like going to feel the temperature of the water it was FREEZING!!! Then we started to head back but we were still looking for the clues. We got lost on the way back to camp. We found a lot of answers. Our group had 420 points.

On the map it said there would be a clue around were we were standing we found it but it was hidden in a bush it gave us 50 points we were really happy.

We sprinted down the track back to the meeting place we were still looking for the clues. Suddenly we saw one just sitting there next to a dryed up moody old pond. Which gave us 10 points. My group jetted back we were 20 minutes late but we didn’t find any within that 20 minutes which was good because if we did than we would of lost those points that we found in that 20 miutes.

Our group ended up with and great number 480 pionts we won out of everyone in the camp we were egsausted. You bin Ju Naomi and I had heaps of fun we would really like to do it again. Group a started to head back to have some food!!!

Dear Gary Paulsen,

My name is Amelia and I started reading your book the Hatchet because our reading group started. I really like it.

I find it interesting that you can write about Brian stranded and it sounds so real. Have you ever been through something like that because you’re really good at telling the story or otherwise you have a great imagination? Is Brian and terry just made up names, or do you know people with the names?

I am only half way through the book. I am up to the part when Brian sees that big black bear but the bear doesn’t see Brian, which is really good. So far I really don’t know why it’s called hatchet, but I might understand when I get a little more into the story. I do know that Brians only weapon is a hatchet. So I do know a bit why its called the hatchet.

Yours Faithfully
Amelia

Spoilt Cinderella

Spoilt Cinderella
By Amelia
Team 14
June 2007

There was once a spoilt brat named Cinderella. You know, we (the ugly step sisters) bossed her around. Wells that were one big lie! We lived in a big house on Grow Street. My sister and I were really nice to Cindy; we always made her breakfast and did her chores because we are kind. That’s how we made one big mistake. Ever since we did her chores, she bosses us around and makes us do work for her every day. The reason we cant say no is because her father died. Our mum says we have to be nice to her, it is so stupid!!!

One morning when we were doing Cindys chores the door bell rang. It was the princes agent Dr Loony Loop. He said that every one in town was invited to the palace ball. Then Dr Loony Loop gave us the invitation invitation and left. Sis and I were shocked and not because we were invited to the ball, it was because Mum said that we couldn’t go. She said Cindy and I will go but we couldn’t because we have to many chores to do. I mean totally unfair, and you would think that Cindy would let us go because we did all her chores. She is so mean.

Sis and I saw Cindy trying on this beautiful dress. Then I had an idea. Every girl gets to meet the Prince so when Cindy is talking to the Prince we will do something, like tip horse poo on her or something like that.

The day of the ball came; Cindy and Mum were really excited. Sis and I were excited too and not because Mum changed her mind but because Sis and I had our plan ready. The night had come, we were mopping the floors and Mum and Cindy were getting ready to leave. Sis and I were so jealous but happy that Cindy was going to get a taste of her own medicine. The ball was in the palace. It was so big and beautiful. We were starting to have second thoughts. Imagine the mess we would make, she was standing talking to that handsome Prince.

We were ready on the count of three we were going to splash the red paint all over her. It was so funny she started crying and running and screaming, she made such a mess. The bad thing was Mum saw us so she shoved us into the car and Cindy dragged her in. We got into so much trouble. The Prince felt sorry for her so he married Cindy and they lived happily ever after, both hating us and now we are the maids of the palace, we get paid 50 cents an hour. Now we are hated by everyone and called the Ugly Stepsisters. Everyone thinks we are witches.

The End.

Term 2 Goals - Handwriting

I would like to learn how to slope and get better at linking.
I will achieve this goal by comparing my work once a fortnight to see if I am getting better. I will review it once every two weeks, to see if I am getting better and how I can improve the quality of my writing.
I will know I have achieved this when i can slope and link better and i might get comments from my teachers how my writing has improved.
I would like to achieve this by the end of the term.
